Experienced Trilogy Board Candidate
Vote for Mike Morris - Former HOA President & Property Manager of two HOAs
How Can I Help Trilogy
First of all, I will always look for ways to save our money! Most of us are on fixed incomes and we cannot be extravagant with our spending.
I believe in obtaining bids to help reduce costs and not automatically renew bids to preferred contractors.
I believe in implementing internal controls over the management team and their systems to ensure good Board oversight over Association operations.
I believe there needs to be a succession plan to management, so we are always prepared to carry on normal operations.
I believe in Board transparency to our community and open communication, so our members know what is going on.
I am not a yes man or a follower - I get things done. It will be my job to question management and bring important issues to the membership.
I will always have an open-door policy and will gladly meet with you to address any questions, ideas or suggestions you may have.
About Mike Morris
My wife (Liz) and I are full-time residents of Trilogy
I have both a Bachelors and Master's degree in Agricultural Economics and Business Economics.
Worked in the Lending, Finance & Credit Business for 24 years as a County Supervisor with Farmers Home Administration; Chief Financial Officer of a Farm Credit Association; VP of Special Assets; VP of Credit review; and Senior Vice President of the Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corporation.
I quit the corporate world at 49 years old and started up two Mexican Corporations in Mazatlan, Mexico. Started and operated a Bed & Breakfast for over 20 years and remodeled a large home into 6 condominiums.
I started Farmsituation.com and was President and CEO for my agricultural credit consulting business.
Served as HOA President of the Condominiums in Mazatlan, Mexico and was also the Property Manager.
Served as President and Property Manager of an HOA in Walla Walla, Washington.
HOA Experience & Accomplishments
I started a Mexican HOA, wrote all the By-laws and CCRs and worked with a Mexican Attorney.
In Mazatlan I served as Board President for 15 years, I was responsible for bidding out contracts for painting, repairs, pool and landscaping maintenance and was responsible for oversight of the work. I collected HOA fees and paid all HOA bills. I prepared monthly financial reports and financial statements. We had the lowest monthly HOA fee of any condominium HOA in Mazatlan.
In Washington, I served as Board President for 3 years and was responsible for completely rewriting the CCRs and worked with an HOA Attorney to ensure compliance with State laws.
In Washington, I was also responsible for soliciting contracts for maintenance of all aspects of the HOA through a competitive bidding process, which resulted in lowering the HOA monthly fee from $200 per month to $150 per month at the same time increasing Capital Improvement reserves. I prepared monthly financial reports and financial statements. I also found the HOA was paying County rates for water instead of City rates, which resulted in a refund of nearly $15,000.
